Founded in 1913, we visit yet another Harry Colt classically designed course, with many thinking it is his finest work to rank alongside Swinley Forest (which we visit in June).

We shall be playing the more prestigious of the 3 loops, the Red & the Blue.

From the moment you enter the gates of the St. George’s Hill estate & wend your way uphill through the course, it really is a special feeling. After parking, there is a short, blind walk up a path &…..lo & behold……..the course is laid out before you. It is genuinely one of those ‘wow’ moments in golf, even to those who have played here before.

Behind you sits the grandest of grand red brick clubhouses that also affords superb panoramic views of the opening & closing holes. The course itself is a delight, wending its way through the panoramic Surrey countryside. This is our 5th consecutive year of visiting the club, &, hand on heart, know of no one who hasn’t loved playing here.

The food here is fantastic - our 3 course carvery always a delight.

We should mention here a note from the club’s own website. As with hundreds of clubs throughout the land, course maintenance begins w/c March 2nd. Recovery, as always, is weather dependent, but we hope, by our day coming a month after completion of the work, the course will hopefully give us another wonderful day.

And finally, with a current green fee of £300, you will find our day excellent value.

The itinerary

• 0740. Meet for tea/coffee & bacon rolls
• 0840 18 holes (Blue to Red) - Individual Stableford - men yellow tees / ladies red tees
• Nearest the Pin - Red 8th
• After play, return to the clubhouse for a 3 course Carvery lunch & prizegiving

The prizes

• A bottle of Moët et Chandon champagne to the individual winner
• A bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape to the runner up and winner of Nearest the Pin
